10/22/08 - Thanks to everyone for a successful first year at PASA.  The posse has many new members and we hope to continue to grow.  We will be working on the match schedule for next year in the upcoming months.  If you have a preference on day or weekend, please drop up a note and voice your opinion.  We realize we can't make everyone happy, but hopefully we'll come up with something that the majority can live with.  Email us at  srr@saltriverrenegades.com  or phone 217-242-1839.

9/30/08 - Scores for the September match are now posted.  (Sorry for the delay!)  Thanks to everyone who joined up with the posse this month! Special thanks go out to Nitro Pike for serving as match director. From the looks of the score sheets, he designed some challenging stages! Congratulations to RED BURNS who was our TOP GUN of the month! Good shootin' partner! For complete results, click on the Results button.  If any of the shooters took photos, please forward some to me for posting in the photo gallery.

Next month's shoot is scheduled for Sunday, October 19th at PASA Park in Barry. Mandatory shooter's meeting at 10a.m. We will be there early (probably around 9a or so) to set up the stages if anyone would like to help out. Match fee is $10 - must be a PASA member to shoot. New members paying their membership fee ($25) at the match will shoot the main match for free. Details and ammo counts are posted on the website ( www.saltriverrenegades.com). This will be our last scheduled shoot of the year. 9 Depending on weather and hunting seasons, we possibly could hold matches in November and December. We will post details on the website and e-mail notices to everyone as early as possible. Also, if anyone would like to wear the match director hat any time, just let us know.

With this year coming to a close, we would like to get your opinion next year's schedule. Which day/time would work best for you: Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning?? Please drop us an e-mail with your preference. We'll review the responses and work up the 2009 schedule.

Hope to see y'all come out for our last scheduled match of the year!

8/1/08 - Hope y'all have recovered from our last shoot - it's time to think about our August match now! At the last match, the posse agreed to make August another evening shoot to avoid the heat of the day. And, to keep even cooler, several shooters have suggested having a theme shoot to shed the cowboy duds. Several good suggestions were submitted and a Hawaiian/Beach theme seems to be the posse's pick. So, round up yer Hawaiian shirts, grass skirts, coconut bras, and mu mu's! Should be a hoot of a shoot!!  Hope to see y'all come out in yer best Hawaiian duds!!!

7/20/08  3rd ANNUAL COWBOY COOKOUT EVENING SHOOT - a huge success!!  Should be re-christened to "It's not the Heat, It's the Humidity" Annual Cookout!  We had an awesome turnout Saturday night for our 3rd Annual Cowboy Cookout Evening Shoot in spite of the near deadly weather! The day started with a Wild Bunch Match with 7 shooters. Our "Wildest" shooter was Rufus Basset - Congrats! The main match had a near record 16 shooters but was cut short by one stage so we wouldn't have to put our off-duty nurses to work picking cowboys up off the ground. The heat and humidity just seemed to suck the life outta ya. Our "Top Gun" for the main match was Taquila Tab! Good shootin' partner!

A much deserved and needed break while the grills fired up lifted everyone's spirits - that, and a cool, comfortable Smith & Wesson Hall that Dick and Kathy had opened up for us! (Thank you!) The grub was outstanding!!! (Thanks to the ladies for getting things cut up, laid out, and cleaned up!) We have some mighty good cooks in our midst! Y'all outdun yourselves! Can't wait 'til next year!

A few die-hard (or just plain senseless) souls stayed for the after-dark black powder shoot. The sun might have gone down, but the humidity didn't! We had five hard-core darksiders shooting. Our "Dark Leader" was Newsome Porter. Check out the photo album for the fireworks show!!

The results and photos are posted for your viewing pleasure at www.saltriverrenegades.com. Again, we have Gunnabe Cowgirl to thank for the outstanding photos!! Sure do appreciate her talents! Also, thanks to Newsome Porter and Nitro Pike for setting things up for us. Don't know how many changes of clothing they sweated through! The sun shades were well appreciated by the posse!

In hopes to survive the heat, the posse decided to change the August match to a Saturday evening shoot. That will make it Saturday, August 16, start time to be announced, but probably around 5-6pm. Next month's shoot will also be a "theme shoot". It has been suggested to have a "Hawaiian" shoot, an "Underwear" shoot, and the like, to help keep the cowboys cool and standing upright!! If you want to throw your idea for a "keep the cowboys cool" theme into the hat, just drop us a line. We'll announce the August theme in an upcoming e-mail!

Thanks again to everyone for another successful shoot and cookout!! Hope to see y'all in August!

6/12/08 SPECIAL JULY EVENING SHOOT - The match is scheduled for Saturday, July 19th at PASA Park in Barry.   Shooter's Meeting at 4p.m.  We will be having an early evening shoot, a cookout, then a black powder after-dark side match.  If enough shooters show up earlier in the afternoon, we will have a Wild Bunch match around 1 or 2p.   The Renegades' chuckwagon will provide the burgers, buns, and condiments.   Shooters bring a dish to share, table service, and your beverage of choice. (NO alcoholic beverage consumption until AFTER you are done shooting and your guns are put up.  NO exceptions!)   We will need a head count so the chuckwagon has enough grub for everyone!  Please RSVP as soon as possible if you are eating with us.  Deadline to RSVP is July11th.   No RSVP ---> NO grub!!!   Camping will be allowed.  No hookups available tho.   There is a restroom (no shower) available in Smith & Wesson Hall.   Check out the match page for more info as it becomes available.

4/13/08 FIRST SHOOT OF 2008! - "Neither rain nor snow, nor sleet nor dark of night shall stay these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds." Thanks to everyone who braved the cold, wind, rain, and snow for our first shoot of the year and at our new home at PASA!   We had a great turnout and a great time!!    Thirteen shooters huddled around a propane heater to thaw out trigger fingers before their run.  Nitro Pike was our top Polar Bear Shooter of the month!  Congrats!!  For complete results and posse photo, go to the match results page.  Let's hope next month's weather is more hospitable!   Speaking of next month...we are planning on having a "Cowboy Skrap" side match.  Check out the match page for more info closer to match time.

4/9/08  FIRST SHOOT of 2008!  - Don't miss the first shoot of 2008 on Sunday, April 13th!!   Set up at 9am and mandatory shooter's meeting at 10am.  Hope to see y'all there!!!

3/16/08  MOVING DAY - The Salt River Renegades has officially settled at the new homestead out at PASA Park.  The move went smoothly, except for Tab's wagon wheels sinkin' in a mud hole!  (Don't y'all fret - good ol' Ford horsepower came to the rescue and pulled the sunk "like a rock" Chevy outta there!)

HUGE thank yous go out to the following dedicated cowboys:

Taquila Tab, Amos Calendar, SmileFixer, Nitro Pike, Newsome Porter, Scribbler ,Ama Zulu

If not for their time, muscles, vehicles, and trailers, we wouldn't have gotten it all rounded up in one day!  Awesome job, fellas!!!

There's still a lot of work to do to get the stages set up. Watch your email for more information on a setup day sometime soon.

03/17/08  MIDWEST CLASSIC 2008 - Don't miss the 2nd Annual Illinois Quails Unlimited Midwest Classic Cowbay Action Shoot on April 25-27, 2008 at the World Shooting Complex, Sparta, Illinois.  Download the entry form:  http://www.midwestclassic-iqu.com or e-mail back.40@earthlink.net for more information.
